The play Romeo & Juliet was written by William Shakespeare in the late 1500's. This story about star crossed lovers, tragedy and reconciliation has inspired numerous plays, music and films throughout history.
For our concert season finale, the Maestro, Wm. David Stufft has planned a fun and interesting program that will compare and contrast how various composers interpreted the same scenes from the most famous enduring love story in English literature - Romeo & Juliet.
Join us for a concert the whole family will enjoy. Featured songs and guest vocalists include:
- "Can You Feel the Love Tonight" composed by Elton John for the 1994 Disney film the Lion King. Guest vocalist: Kevin Garland, Young Harris music student
- "Tale as Old as Time" from the 1991 Disney film Beauty and the Beast. Guest vocalists: Jazlyn Dingfelder and Kevin Garland, Young Harris music students.
- Gounod - "Romeo et Juliette", Aria "Je veux vivre". Guest vocalist: Joanna Burrell, graduate voice student at the University of Georgia.
